Running Tip #20. Use a habit loop, cue -> routine -> reward, to make habits last. Associate a cue with a routine and a reward. I even use this mental track during a race, using a mile marker as a cue, increasing effort, then seeing a fan or having a gel as a reward. Over time, running and racing will become automatic.
